Modelo 720: Declaration of Assets Abroad
Purpose: An informative declaration used by Spanish tax residents to report assets held outside of Spain (Bank accounts, investments, and real estate).
- Who must file: Residents whose total assets in any one of the three categories (Accounts, Investments, or Real Estate) exceed €50,000.
- Deadline: Between January 1st and March 31st each year.
- Key Information Required:
- Bank Accounts: Entity name, address, account number, and the balance as of Dec 31st (and the average balance for the last quarter).
- Investments: Stocks, shares, life insurance, or annuities.
- Real Estate: Address, country, acquisition date, and purchase value.
- Common Gotcha: You only need to file it again in future years if the value of a previously declared category increases by more than €20,000, or if you sell a declared asset.
